The Filipino Vampire "Manananggal"

The "Manananggal" or the Filipino Vampire is one of the most famous mythical creatures here in the Philippines, as the story goes from generation to generation of families here in the Philippines. Many people believe that this creature transforms only by night, half-bat ~ half-human, and is afraid of the daylight.

The Manananggal transforms with the help of a local herb or oil (lana in tagalog) to severe its upper torso, and leave its lower torso, its really-really hideous cause you would be able to see its insides; believed that it would prey on pregnant women, using its elongated tongue to snatch the baby from its mother.

Manananggal is one of the few reasons why pregnant women in the Philippines don't go out at nighttime, you won't see any people in barrios by 8:00 in the evening and so on.

You can kill a Manananggal by sprinkling salt, cutting its tongue(while it grabs the baby), they hate garlic so throw one at them,rosary/Bible, and burning rubber(when they smell it they fall)

This mythical creature is said to be found at Western-Visayas Region in places like Capiz and Ilo-Ilo.
