The Philippine Mermaid “Sirena”

Sirena or Mermaids are aquatic mythical creature half-human, half-fish; they are known for attracting sailors crashing their ships in rocks, they sing so beautifully that you cannot ignore this mythical creature, when sailors hear them singing their spellbinding song they are mesmerized and the Mermaids abduct them . Having said so, they are said to be found in the Philippines in coastal towns facing the Pacific Ocean.

Dugongs are often mistaken as a Sirena or Mermaid for its tails are somewhat identical. Other folklore asserts that this creature takes the life out of drowning men while trying to save them. Incidents of drowning connected to the Sirena may be just isolated cases. Proofs of the Existence of Sirena have not yet been proven.
